Craning necks for foster parents
WILDLIFE enthusiasts in the city have adopted but only 46 out of 792 animals in the Lucknow Zoo. Out of these, many are big corporate houses that have chosen to spend some part of their earning on speechless inmates of the zoo.

Fear factor vs feel-good...!
NAGAR SWASTHYA adhikari BBS Rathore, SDO LESA and many government officials have, out of fear, vowed never to visit the ward. The LMC has to recover over house tax worth Rs 50 lakh in this ward but officials could never muster courage to either realise the money or initiate action against the residents.

Shift dhobi ghats, set up 4 STPs: Panel
THE GOVERNMENT should immediately construct four sewage treatment plants (STPs) to save the Gomti from turning into a killer home for fish. Many such recommendations are being forwarded to principal secretary environment by the six-member panel probing incident of fish death in the Gomti. Dhobi ghats should be removed from the riverbanks and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) should monitor dissolved oxygen levels and inform Jal Sansthan about it on a daily basis, are some of the suggestions made by the panel.

Battered wife threatens immolation
MOTHER OF four, harassed by husband, Pushpa Gupta took her plaint to the streets today. She staged a sit-in outside Vidhan Bhawan demanding ?justice? and threatening self-immolation, considering she apparently ?cannot? go to the cops for help. Amarnath, her husband, who allegedly beats her up regularly, is a constable posted in Gorakhpur. LUCKNOW UNIVERSITY students continue to grab hoardings outside the campus, but LMC bosses can?t do anything about it. Why?
