Akhilesh congratulates farmer leaders on Bharat Ratna to late Charan Singh

“Congratulations to all the farmer leaders and parties who had demanded from time to time that the former Prime Minister and farmer leader of the country who spent his entire life bringing poor farmers on the path to prosperity should be given Bharat Ratna. CLP authorises Kharge to pick next K’taka CM

The Karnataka Congress has authorised All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge to select the state's next chief minister. The decision was made during the party's first legislative meeting after winning the recent assembly polls. Supporters of the two main contenders, former chief minister Siddaramaiah and state president DK Shivakumar, protested outside the meeting venue. Kharge is expected to make his decision after meeting with both leaders on 17 May. The swearing-in of the new chief minister is expected by 18 May.
