MCG’s hawkers zone opens in Gurgaon

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has opened dedicated hawkers zone at Sector 38, opposite Medanta-the Medicity Hospital, in an effort to decongest roads, solve long-pending infrastructure issues and provide a variety of food options in a clean environment.

As a pilot project, 20 hawkers were set up on an empty spot adjacent to the main road, to avoid snarls in the area which sees heavy traffic. From paranthas, vegetarian dishes, maggi, bread and egg, hot and cold beverages, rajma chawal and kadhi chawal, these items cost between Rs 15 and Rs 70(Parveen Kumar/HT photo)

Second line of Rapid Metro expected to open in early 2017

The Haryana party chief of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Naveen Jaihind, was detained on Tuesday along with 10 party workers before they could start a protest march towards Tau Devi Lal Stadium, the venue for the inaugural function of Haryana’s golden jubilee celebrations.

Work on India’s first pod taxi network to start by March 2017: PWD minister

Work on the country’s first pod taxi network will start in March 2017, by which time the proposed Gurgaon Development Authority (GDA) will be fully operational, public works department (PWD) Minister Rao Narbir Singh said on Monday.

The 12.3-km pod taxi network was planned from New Delhi-Haryana border to Subash Chowk. Later, the route was expanded by 6km to include old Gurgaon areas as well.(HT File)

City sees spurt in vector-borne cases in last 72 hours

Cases of mosquito-borne diseases surged in the last 72 hours with the city reporting 13 new dengue and three chikungunya cases. The total number of confirmed dengue cases is now at 70 and chikungunya at 23. No deaths associated with these diseases have been reported so far in the city.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the health department are carrying out preventive measures extensively such as fumigation.

Gurgaon private labs, health department disagree on price cap for chikungunya test

The Rs 600 price cap imposed on all chikungunya tests by the state government is being opposed by private healthcare institutions which say the amount is not enough to compensate for the cost incurred on each test, thus causing them a loss.

Earlier this month, ays after a Delhi government ordered a price cap on chikungunya tests at private hospitals, the Gurgaon health department also adopted a similar cap for tests. As per the directive, all diagnostic tests for chikungunya could not exceed Rs 600.(HT File)
