Finally, after a gap of five months, city buses will return on road in mid-January, but municipal corporation’s Ludhiana City Bus Service Limited (LCBSL) will get income as low as nearly Rs 125 per bus a day. A private firm has been selected to operate all 105 city buses and it has offered to pay Rs 48 lakh per year to the LCBSL.

Ludhiana: Sewer worker’s pluck finds no mention in MC’s list of bravehearts

Bishambar alias Kala (38) had saved the life of two sewer men who fainted inside a manhole on January 11, but neither the municipal corporation nor the government honoured him for his bravery. A sewer man, Surinder Kumar, had gone inside a manhole (around 20 feet deep) in Abdullahpur Basti without any safety gear and died due to suffocation.
