MC additional commissioner Ghashyam Thori said, “We have planned to spend `10 crore on major parks of the city. We have recently conducted a meeting with the officials of different wings, including lights, horticulture, operation and maintenance, and others.”

“We will prepare the detailed project report as per requirement of these parks. Lists of the non-functioning fountains, lights and other items will be made for repair work,” he added.

A city resident said, “Many of the city parks are in bad shape. If these are maintained, then the city will get a new look.” Manjit Singh Mehram, a former employee of PAU, said, “The civic body should remove encroachments from various parks. Nobody should be allowed to run commercial activities on the green belts and parks.”
