Talking to HT, newly-joined MC commissioner GK Singh said cleanliness and maintenance of parks would be the top most priority, while residents would get reading corners in parks where they could sit together. He said, "We have decided to mark 2015 as year of development."

Wishing a happy new year to the residents, he assured that the residents would not face any trouble in availing of the services provided by the MC. He said, "Our new year resolution is to roll our sleeves up and put our shoulder to the wheel for better development of the city."

The residents are also hoping for a better city with well-carpeted roads, proper water supply, sewerage system as well as provision of all required amenities, besides, completion of pending projects in time.

City resident Satish Sachdeva said, "In the coming year, MC should ensure proper lifting of garbage, along with providing other basic amenities across the city. Steps should be taken to control the increasing population of stray dogs in city."

Though MC's financial condition is not good, the officials will focus to improve it. MC has also planned to act strictly against the temporary encroachments as it is going to launch its new android-based system to deal with such encroachments.

MC assistant commissioner Satwant Singh said, "We will continue our drives against temporary encroachments. We will ensure proper functioning of city buses and will look after the parking lots. MC is planning to start work on project of 24x7 water supply and Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in 2015."

The civic body has recently proposed that one mason and two beldars will be deployed at each ward of the MC. Additional commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, "The proposal is in the pipeline. If we deploy two beldars and one mason at each ward, these persons can do the patch work, and other related works in time. We will plan about development works as per availability of budget."
