Centre bans Pakistan-based OTT platform Vidly TV for 'anti-India' web series

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB), in its order, stated that the web series aired on the OTT Platform “was found to be detrimental to national security, sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the State, India’s friendly relations with foreign States, and public order in the country".

Centre asks OTT platforms, TV channels to stop betting site ads

Satellite TV and streaming services like Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video, and other digital media must immediately stop airing advertisements promoting gambling and betting aimed at the Indian audience, or face penal action, the information and broadcasting ministry said in a stern advisory on Monday.

Experts feel this self regulation code is to circumvent censorship on the OTT platforms.

Digital news publishers get 15 days to share details as per new IT guidelines

While digital news media publishers aren’t required to be registered with the ministry, the government has asked for information about their grievance redressal officer in India, the self-regulating body of which the publisher is a member, and the details of the editor.
