Paralysed dahi handi player moved to Bhaktivedanta Hospital
A 25-year-old dahi handi participant, Suraj Kadam, who sustained a cervical spine injury leading to quadriplegia, has been moved to Bhaktivedanta Hospital for rehabilitation after a month-long hospitalization at KEM Hospital. Suraj's family decided to shift him due to lack of nursing support at KEM Hospital. Suraj's siblings have given up their studies and work to be with him. The doctors estimate that it will take four to five months of physiotherapy for Suraj to regain some movement. This year, there have been 195 serious injuries among dahi handi revellers.

Govinda set to be discharged but left battling quadriplegia
On September 7 this year, Suraj Kadam (25) fell from a pyramid, a fall that left him a quadriplegic (paralysed below the chest). On September 24, he was moved to KEM Hospital’s orthopaedic ward after undergoing surgery for compressed nerves and a fracture and spending close to three weeks in the ICU. While the doctors are hoping to discharge him within a week, his siblings—Sampada (23) and Sujal (18)—are not sure how they will manage him alone. The Kadam siblings lost both their parents to Covid-19

Visually impaired Govindas show they can do it too
A group of visually impaired Govindas in Mumbai participated in Dahi Handi celebrations, forming pyramids using sound and touch. The group consists of around 40 men and boys from various religious backgrounds, including Muslims and Christians. They have been training for two months and have participated in the event for the past five years. The group also organizes other events and activities, such as orchestras and sports games.
