Panchkula: Sharp turn by auto claims lives of infant, granddad

As the auto-rickshaw ascended an overbridge after crossing the Chandimandir toll plaza in Panchkula, the driver made a sudden turn, causing Shiv Ratan, who was holding the infant, to lose balance and fall onto the road

Chandigarh: Things to look forward to in 2024

Chandigarh Smart City Limited is setting up a unified control room to manage multiple services such as water supply, bike-sharing, streetlights, and waste management. The city is also working on projects including 24x7 water supply, removal of legacy waste, redevelopment of the railway station, and the Tricity metro project. Other projects include the rejuvenation of Sector 17, a multi-feature park in Panchkula, smart parking, a new cricket stadium, and the construction of an AYUSH hospital. E-challaning for traffic violations, the Greenfield road project, and the completion of various road projects are also in progress.

6 months on, solar panels at Chandigarh railway station still not functional

To reduce dependency on conventional sources of energy, Northern Railway’s Ambala Division had installed solar panels at Chandigarh railway station. However, six months on, the panels are still not functional. According to a source in the railways, “Solar panels of 390 kW were to be installed all over the station, with about 190 kW for station and the rest for other buildings such as sick line, workshop, etc.

Chandigarh tribunal awards 16 lakh relief to 2018 mishap victim’s kin

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has awarded a compensation of over ₹16 lakh to the family of 20-year-old man who died in a road accident in June 2018. As per the petition, the accident took place on June 3, 2018, at about 12.30pm when the victim, Guneet Singh, was going from the Chandigarh railway station to Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, in a three-wheeler along with his father Harmeet Singh.
