West Bengal board Class 10 result 2018 declared: Slight dip in pass percentage

The results of Class 10 board exam of West Bengal were declared on Wednesday morning recording a pass percentage of 85.49% that was slight lower than the 85.65% registered last year.

The total number of class 10 examinees in 2018 stood at 10,84,178, of whom 6,06,633 were girls and 4,77,545 boys. The exams were held in 2,819 centres across West Bengal.

Sanjivani Debnath of Suniti Academy in the north Bengal district of Cooch Behar stood first scoring 689 out of 700 (or 98.4%).

As many as 56 students featured in the top 10 ranks. However, there were only two students from Kolkata schools in this list. Out of the six students who occupied the first three ranks, three were girls.

“For every 1,000 male candidates there were 1,209 female candidates this year. It proved that parents are sending more and more daughters to school and encouraging them to study at least till the Class 10 level,” said West Bengal Board of Secondary Education president Kalyanmay Gangopadhyay.

The number of female candidates were more in the minority community too. There were 1,02,620 male Muslim candidates compared to 1,74,678 female candidates from the community.

Out of the 23 districts, students of East Midnapore recorded the maximum pass percentage with 96.13% followed by West Midnapore at 91.75% and Kolkata at 91.11%.

Among the differently abled candidates, the pass percentage stood at 88.82%.

The results were declared on the 77th day after the exam. The Madhyamik exams were held from March 12 to March 21 this year.

In 2017, West Bengal Madhyamik results were announced on May 27. The pass percentage of students in West Bengal Madhyamik exam last year was 85.05%.

The WBBSE Madhyamik result will be available at the following websites:www.wbbse.org, wbresults.nic.in, exametc.com, indiaresults.com, timesofindia.com, school.gradeup.co, schools9.com, vidyavision.com, jagranjosh.com, results.shiksha, westbengalonline.in.

Students can also obtain their results by sending SMS to WB10 roll number to 56070.

The marksheets will be distributed through 47 camp offices said Gangopadhyay.

Next year the Madhyamik exams will be held from February 12 to 22.
