UP Board Results 2018: Anjali Verma is Class 10 topper with 96.3%; Rajneesh Shukla, Akash Maurya top Class 12 with 93.2%

In Class 10, 75.16 per cent students passed the UP Board exam while 72.43 per cent students cleared the Class 12 exam.

Girls did better than boys in the high school or Class 10 and intermediate or Class 12 board examinations in terms of pass percentage as officials announced the UP Board 2018 result on Sunday.

Officials said 75.16 per cent students were declared successful in Class 10 and 78.81 per cent girls cleared the exam as compared to 72.27 per cent boys. There were 30,28,767 students, including 16,89,877 boys and 13,38,890 girls, who appeared for the exam this year.

Class 10 Toppers

Anjali Verma of Brij Behari Sahai Intercollege in Allahabad was the topper in Class 10 with 96.35 percentage.

Second rank was secured by Yashasvi of Fatehpur ‘s Vikas VMIC College with 94.5 percentage.

Vinay Kumar Varma of Sitapal VMIC, also in Fatehpur, and Sunny Varma of MPS Intercollege in Gonda were placed third with 94.17 percentage.

In Class 12, 72.43 per cent students cleared the exams and girls with a pass percentage of 78.44 did better than boys with that of 67.36. The intermediate exams were written by 26,04,093 candidates, including 14,12,519 boys and 11,91,574 girls this year.

Class 12 Toppers

Rajneesh Shukla of Sarvodaya Intercollege in Fatehpur and Akash Maurya Shri Sai Intercollege, Barabanki, were the joint toppers in Class 12 with 93.2 percentage marks.

The second rank went to Ananya Rai, a student of Model Convent in Ghazipur, with 92.31 percentage marks.

The third rank was also claimed by two students - Abhishek Kumar of DPS Intercollege in Muradabad and Ajeet Patel of Barabanki’s Shri Sai Intercollege - with 92.2 percentage marks.

There were 664,000 candidates, including 366,000 for high school and 298,000 for intermediate exams, who registered for the exams conducted by the UP Board High School from February 6 to March 12.

However, more than 11,27,800 students dropped out of the exams due to strict anti-copying measures and 1,146 were caught using unfair means. Police lodged 136 complaints against students for indulging unfair means as well as invigilators and centre superintendents for helping them to cheat.

The exams were held under closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras for the first time this year and state police’s special task force was also roped in to check copying.

Evaluation of over 5,00,00,000 answer sheets of began on March 17 at 248 centres in the state by around 140,000 teachers under CCTV with personnel of the special task force and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) keeping a watch in different parts of the state.

Last year, the overall pass percentage for Class 10 was recorded at 81.18 and girls did better as 86.50% cleared the exam against 76.75 per cent boys. In Class 12, 82.62 per cent students were declared successful and girl outshined boys in the exam with a pass percentage of 88.80 as compared to 77.16 for boys.
