UP board result 2018: What 10th and 12th students across state said ahead of announcement

With the countdown on for the UP Board’s High School and Intermediate results on Sunday, students are a nervous lot.

On Saturday, some of the examinees in Allahabad visited temples or prayed at home while some tried to beat the anxiety pangs with an outing with friends and family members.

“I have done well in exams, but I am nervous. I went with my mother to the temple and prayed from the heart. Hope I will repeat my performance of class 10 where I secured 72% marks,” said Jigyasa Mishra, a student of class 12th at St. DB Inter College, Allahabad.

Devendra Kumar, another student from the same institution who appeared in High School examination, preferred to chill out before the results, refusing to even think about the outcome.

“What is destined for me cannot be changed. I studied hard and have done well, except in Physics. I will get what I deserve. So why think about it? It won’t help me a bit. I have planned to watch two movies back to back before going to sleep tonight,” he said.

Principal of St DB Inter College, Allahabad, Sabrina Coutinho said students have been counselled to keep calm.

Students in Lucknow looked a touch nervous while a few other students said that they were simultaneously excited because this year exams were conducted under CCTV vigil.

Divyanshi Singh, a Class 10 student of SKD Academy, said, “I am not at all worried about the result. Because of strictness in board exams, we prepared very well throughout the year.”

Abhishek Yadav, a class 12 student of the same school, sounded quite confident as he said only after board results he will determine whether he will study science stream or humanities.

Poonam an Intermediate student, is looking forward to their higher education in university.

Ajar Singh Patel, a class 12 student at Rani Reoti Devi Inter College, also offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Civil Lines area of Allahabad city early Saturday morning. He says the wait for the next 24 hours would be hard to bear.

“I have done well but am nervous and anxious too. The long wait will be unbearable and I will not be able to sleep well tonight,” he said.

Anushka Mishra, a class 10 student of Rani Reoti Devi Inter College, is also nervous as she feels that strict evaluation this time will affect grades. “The long wait for results is torturous. I am praying hard and have been going to the temple every day after the exams,” she said.

Ramji Singh, principal of Rani Reoti Devi Inter College, said students of his institution had done well and he is hoping for the best on Sunday.

Some students sounded very optimistic because they said that they had full faith in their hard work.

Dheeraj Kumar, a high school student, said students must learn how to cope with the pressure.

Director of SKD Academy, Manish Singh interacted with students ahead of the result to ease their pressure. “It was my duty and responsibility to make all boys and girls comfortable.”

The UP Board High School and Intermediate results will be declared tomorrow afternoon at the Board’s headquarters in Allahabad by its director Awadh Narain Sharma.

Around 17% (11.27 lakh) of the 66.4 lakh candidates dropped out of the examination midway after the government strictly implemented several anti-copying measures.

The Board had not only increased its supply of coded answer sheets to 50 districts this year from 31 districts last year but had also installed CCTV camera network at a whopping 8,057 examination centers in 75 districts of state.

The state government had also roped in Special Task Force (STF) to thwart the copying mafia in board examinations which had been tarnishing the board and the state’s image for the past few decades.
