PSEB 12th Result 2019: Labourer’s son Sarvjot Singh Bansal is joint topper of Punjab Board Class 12 exam

Sarabjot Singh Bansal, one of the three students who secured top position in Punjab board class 12 examinations, was welcomed like a celebrity in his school on Saturday.

Overjoyed students of his Class lifted Sarvjot on their shoulders, took selfies with him and entered the school gate dancing. Students, teachers and principal of Shalimar Model Senior Secondary School, Guru Angad Colony, Ludhiana danced on beats of dhol, honoured him with garland and gave him their blessings for scoring 445 out of 450 or 98.89% marks in the PSEB Class 12 examinations.

Sarvjot is son of Heera Singh who works as a labourer (makes machine parts) in a private factory. His mother Manjit Kaur is a teacher in a private board affiliated school in the state.

After the results were declared, Sarvjot said, “I was not expecting to top in the state, but this is a big achievement and I am glad that I have made my parents, teachers and school proud.”

Sarvjot who is a commerce student, wants to become a businessman and has keen interest in e-commerce. “I am very fond of computers and want to pursue a career in this field,” he said.

His favourite subject is accounts and he believes in self study. Sarvjot also said that he wanted to buy a computer, but due to financial constraints in family, this still remains a dream.

“The credit of this score goes to my parents and teachers who have motivated me throughout the year. I have studied with a lot of dedication and finally my hard work paid off,” said Sarvjot after he knew about his result. “I have given one hour to every subject daily and always revise the lessons daily”, he said.

He had bagged eighth rank in the state in the Class 10 board exams by securing 97.5% marks.

Three students have scored 98.89% marks each and share the top position in the Class board 12 exams in the state. The three toppers are Sarvjot Singh Bansal from commerce stream, Aman from humanities and Muskan Soni from science stream. They are toppers from their streams as well.
