Not allowed to cheat: Is that why over 2.7 lakh students have skipped UP Board exams?

Nearly one lakh high school examinees did not sit for the mathematics paper of the UP Board on Monday, raising the total number of students who skipped the ongoing examination so far to 2, 74,595.

The examinations conducted by the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad commenced on Thursday.

Sources in the board said so far 1, 91,601 Class 12 examinees also reported absent.

As per reports, 99,345 students of high school failed to appear for the examination on Monday.

The board officials attribute the phenomenon to the strict measures it has taken to curb use of unfair means during examinations.

UP Board secretary Shail Yadav said such a large number of examinees preferring not to appear for the examinations was a proof of strict measures implemented by the board to check use of unfair means.

Reports also revealed that 100 high school examinees, 68 boys and 32 girls, were caught from various centres in the state while using unfair means during exams on Monday.

During the class 12 exam held in the second shift, 113 students, including 90 girls and 23 boys, were caught cheating.

Examination was cancelled after a flying squad led by district inspector of schools (DIoS), Allahabad, Komal Yadav found mass copying was going on at Mohd Yasin Inter College, Manda during the first shift of the exam.

Two invigilators Sandeep Pandey and Gyan Chand Yadav were relieved from their duties at SRK Inter College in Uruwa block of Allahabad.

The action was taken because despite being teachers of mathematics they were doing invigilation duties during the maths exam of the high school, which is against the norms of the UP Board.

As per the norms, teachers of a particular subject will not do invigilation during the exam of the same subject.
