JEE Advanced 2017: Super Sunday for Chandigarh, eight students make it to top 100 All India Ranks

From only two students securing positions in top 100 last year, eight tricity students have made it to top 100 All India Ranks (AIR) of JEE (Advanced) this year, including a national topper with AIR 1.

Tricity comprises of Chandigarh and bordering districts -- Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali or SAS Nagar (Punjab). Chandigarh also serves as capital of Punjab and Haryana.
Besides, two more students have bagged positions in top 10 category with AIR 7 and 9 respectively.
Panchkula boy Sarvesh Mehtani, who is the national topper with AIR 1 with 339 marks out of 366, had scored 95.4% in Class 12 and a perfect CGPA 10 in Class 10.
The second topper Aashish Waikar with AIR 7, who has secured 329 out of 366 in Advanced results, was not even in top 100 AIRs in JEE (Mains). He had secured AIR 101 in JEE (Main).
Similarly, the third topper Rachit Bansal with AIR 9 has secured 327 out of 366.
The other toppers in the top 100 list include Shashij Gupta AIR 30, Manthan Jindal AIR 32, Himanshu Sheoran AIR 59, Saksham Dhull AIR 66, Shivam Bansal AIR 68.
More than 2,600 students from the tricity had appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advance exam, held for admission in various engineering colleges, including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs).
In the past four-five years, no girl student from the tricity has secured a position in top 100 All India ranks in JEE Advanced exams.
In 2015, JEE (Advanced) exams, four students had made it to top 100.
