Haryana Board (HBSE) 2017 Class 12 topper Harish Sharma wants to be a doctor, says tuitions are a waste of time
HBSE 2017 Class 12 topper Harish Sharma secured 491 out of 500 marks and stood first in the entire state
ROHTAK: Rewari resident Harish Sharma topped the Haryana Board exam, the results of which were declared by the board on Thursday evening. A shopkeeper’s son, Sharma secured 491 out of 500 marks to secure the first rank in the entire state.
Sharma, a student of Vivekanand Senior Secondary School in Rewari, is at present eagerly waiting for the results of his medical entrance examination. “I want to be a doctor and serve people,” he said.
About his success mantra, he says , “I studied for eight to ten hours regularly to achieve this result. I did not go for any extra tuitions but ensured I attended school every day. Tuitions are a waste time. If every student revises what he has been taught in school after coming back home, he can secure good marks like me,” Sharma adds.
His teachers describe him as a shy and somewhat reserved student, who takes time to make friends, and is always studying. “I’m not on any social media — Facebook, Whatsapp nothing,” he says.
A bright student, Sharma had topped the Class 10 exam as well in school. “He is the most well-behaved and sincere student I have ever taught,” says Jagjeet, his physics teacher.
Sharma’s father, who has an inverter-battery business, rushed out of his home when his son’s results were declared to gets sweets for visitors coming to their home to congratulate the topper.
Sharma has a younger brother in Class 11 and an elder sister pursuing a bachelor in arts.
Besides studying, he enjoys watching and playing cricket. “In my free time I like playing cricket and watching movies,” he said.
