GSEB HSC science stream result 2018: Pass percentage is 9% less than 2017

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on Thursday announced the GSEB result 2018 of Class 12 board examination for science stream and said 72.99% students cleared the exam.
The GSEB HSC science exams were written by 1,34,352 students and 98,087 candidates managed to clear the exam this year. The pass percentage of students is the lowest in the last five years and around 9% less than 2017 when 81.89% candidates cleared the exam.
With a pass percentage of 74.91, girls outperformed boys who recorded 71.84% result.
“The overall result has gone down compared to past years. The department will do an analysis. We will involve officials as well as parents to know the reasons,’’ state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said while declaring the result.
The board has withheld the result of 120 students, including 90 who were caught copying on closed-circuit television or CCTV cameras during the exams.
Among groups, ‘A’ (mathematics) topped the list with 77.29% results followed by ‘B’ (biology) in which 69.77% students cleared the exam. ‘AB’ group recorded a 61.11% pass rate.
Rajkot topped among districts where 85.03% students passed the exam and the tribal district of Chhota Udaipur was at the bottom with 35.64 pass percentage. As many as 42 schools across the state recorded a 100% result.
