A charisma coach helps you unlock you personal charisma quotient to become more charismatic, that is, charming, full of personality, strong in character, captivating, attractive, appealing, glamorous and more.

You learn to master the art of projecting optimum charisma, irrespective of the social scenario or situation at hand. Charisma can not only make you a star at your workplace, networking events, parties “but a study also shows that it can help get you hired — and even attain a higher salary offer,” says Danish Sheikh, a professional charisma coach.

So, how are image consultants different from charisma coaches? While, an image consultant enhances a person’s image by focusing largely on external aspects like their attire, etiquette, grooming, fashion trends etc, a charisma coach focuses on enhancing the core personality traits of an individual. The focus is on enhancing emotional intelligence, social intelligence, confidence, congruence, body language, tonality, humour, storytelling, public speaking and effective handling of high-pressure situations. Of course appearance, grooming and styling does matter, but they are a smaller part of the big picture, says Sheikh.

As a charisma coach you come across clients from different age groups with their own unique concerns, challenges and goals. So, in order to relate to them, you need to possess strong emotional and social intelligence yourself. “This usually comes from years of social interactions that involve being open to new experiences, meeting people outside your immediate social circle and sometimes initiating small-talk with strangers. Travelling alone helps too. The bottomline – Practice being interested and interesting,” says Sheikh.

There are no formal courses in India or abroad yet that can help you become a charisma coach, but you can start on your own and see how you can help others.

One should possess extraordinary communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a sound understanding of anthropology and evolutionary psychology. Prior experience of being a team player and successfully leading a team helps. More importantly, one should have a genuine interest in people and a desire to touch or enrich others’ lives in a positive way, says Danish Sheikh.

The major factor that would propel the demand of charisma coaching will be the inclusion of charisma enhancing modules in the curriculum of premium business schools in the near future.

“Many surveys and companies that do campus hiring have suggested that the majority of technical graduates in India are not employment ready and one of the major concerns of employers is their lack of confidence and poor communication skills. It’s just a matter of time that the engineering and MBA passouts start opting for additional courses that helps them enhance their charisma quotient,” Sheikh adds.
