CBSE Class 10 result: Students opting for school-based system have better CGPA in Chandigarh

Most of the schools which opted for internal examination for Class 10 instead of the board-based system have done exceedingly well when it comes to scoring better CGPA (cumulative grade point average).

For instance, nearly all of 117 students of Ajit Karam Singh International School (AKSIPS), Sector 41, opted for school-based exam. The school has 41 students scoring CGPA 10, highest in the tricity.

School principal Jagjit Sekhon said, “Students find both systems equally convenient.”

This was the last exam, wherein schools could opt for internal system as the CBSE has decided not to give the this option from next year.

However, as a whole, it has also been found that more students opted for the board-based system in tricity schools. Of 18,147 students, 9,900 opted for board-based system while 8,247 went for school-based exam.

This is also because students of most of the government schools opted for board-based system.

Also, DAV Public School, Sector 8, Chandigarh, which produced national topper in non-medical stream with 99.4% marks in CBSE’s Class-12 exam, went for the board-based system.

Principal Jaskiran Harika said, “External marking system is always better which is a basic feature of board-based exams. I can’t comment on other schools inflating their CGPA figures.”  

 All the 110 students had appeared for board based exams, out of which 23 secured 10 CGPA. The school relied on the CBSE boards.

 Krit Serai, principal, Satluj Public School, Panchkula, where all students opted for school-based exam, said, “Papers come from the CBSE. We don’t show these even to our teachers. Inflating results may vary from school to school. Ethics are important to our profession.”

As many as 93 of 280 students of the school scored CGPA 10.

Principal of Manav Mangal School, Sector 21, Chandigarh, said, “I does not matter if they go for school-based or board-based system, our students have always come up with flying colours.”

As many as 39 of 147 students of the school scored CGPA 10.
