The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to declare the results of the Class 12 board examination on Saturday.

In Lucknow, students of GD Goenka Public School were hoping for the best even as the school principal and psychology teacher tried to lift their spirits up to keep the students in the right frame of mind.

“To apply for Delhi University colleges, I need a great percentage. So, I’m hoping a lot from the results as my college destination depends on it,” said Aishwayra Sharma, who wants to do B Com from the Delhi University.

“I have applied in other colleges too as an alternative,” she said.

“I’ve applied for colleges in UK which demand a certain percentage. So, getting a good percentage for me is very important,” said Aadhya Aron, another student.

This year, Class 12 Economics and Class 10 Mathematics papers got leaked, triggering criticism against the board over the way the exams were conducted. A re-test was held for Class 12 Economics students, but CBSE decided against one for Class 10 Mathematics paper.

The students who sat for JEE Advanced seemed comparatively indifferent about the results as their main focus continued to be the IITs.

“To some extent, it doesn’t bother. Of course there is some pressure about the result. Balancing the two was quite a task for me. A good percentage will give a boost,” said Prakhar Maurya, an IIT aspirant.

The students have been stressed for long and are trying to de-stress themselves. “Netfilx and chill mainly. My parents have been extremely supportive and caring which is a big relief to my mind,” said Aishwarya Sharma.

“I’ve taken to swimming these days to relax and energise myself. We also have counselling sessions in our school which are very helpful,” said Suramya Ahuja, another IIT aspirant.

“We finally have the time to go out with our friends and wander. I’m watching all the movies I put on pause for a year,” said Vatsalya Vaibhav.

The students are leaving no stone unturned as they march to the temples and call on their luck and mascots to get the best possible results. However, the sudden announcement of the result date has put students under stress which is affecting them.

Around 28 lakh students who had appeared for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 examinations this year. As many as 16,38,420 candidates registered for the Class 10 exam conducted at 4,453 centres across India and 78 centres abroad.
