The Common Admission Test 2018 will be held on November 25 in two sessions in 147 cities, Sumanta Basu, professor of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and convener of the exam revealed on Saturday.

There will be three sections — verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, quantitative ability. Student will get 60 minutes to complete each section and they have to complete one section before proceeding to the next.
Tutorial to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website from October 17. “Some questions in each section may not be of multiple-choice type. Instead, direct answers will have to be typed on the screen,” said the statement.
A statement released by IIM-Calcutta of Saturday said candidates can download their examination admit card from October 24, 2018 onwards, till the date of test.
“Candidates will be given the option to select four test cities in order of preference. Cities and centres will be assigned to the candidates only after the last date of registration and hence candidates need not rush to block slots and cities in the initial days of registration,” said the statement.

The authorities said they will try their best to assign candidates to their first preferred city.
“In case it is not possible, they will be assigned a city following their given order of preference. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/she will be allotted an alternate city,” said the release.
Candidates should pay the registration fee through online payment modes only.
