The Class 10 examinations were held from May 16 to April 2. Normally, the results would be declared within three weeks.

After the intermediate results, Class 11 and 12, declared last month reported large scale goof-ups, the Telangana government is taking precautions for Class 10 results.

The SSC examination results will be declared at 11.30 am in the state secretariat on Monday, May 13. The results will be available on the official website of the Telangana state board of secondary education: www.bse.telangana.gov.in and also at http://results.cgg.gov.in.

The Class 10 examinations were held from May 16 to April 2. Normally, the results would be declared within three weeks. But following the issues in the intermediate, the directorate of government examinations decided to double-check before declaring the results.

A senior official of the education department who preferred anonymity said the Telangana government had issued strict instructions to the SSC board to ensure there are no discrepancies. “Intermediate examination results had to be hurried through as they are linked with other examinations like engineering entrance tests. But there is no such hurry for Class X students. They can wait and the results can be made fool-proof,” he said.

Secretary (Education) B Janardhan Reddy, who held a meeting with officials of the directorate of the examinations and SSC board last week, instructed that the evaluators double-check before

tabulation of results.

“Out of 11 papers for six subjects, if a student passes in 10 papers and gets less marks in just one paper, his paper has to be re-evaluated. Similarly, if a student gets 90 per cent marks in five subjects and gets very less marks in one subject, such papers should also be re-evaluated,” he had said.

The authorities have also taken precautions to re-check answer sheets in case there are major deviations – a student getting very high marks in a few subjects and abnormally low in others.

Reddy also reportedly directed the officials to provide an exclusive web link to all the schools for convenience of students to view the results and to make special arrangement at DGE office to address objections raised by students online immediately.

The authorities are planning to launch a mobile application through which students and parents can submit their grievances on Class 10 results. “Students who raise grievances will get an immediate acknowledgement and the issue would be resolved in two days,” an official said.

The government conducted counselling sessions for students and parents. “After all, life is more important than marks. We shall correct ourselves if there are any mistakes from our side. But parents should also ensure that their wards do not get disheartened if they fail or get lesser marks in the examinations,” the official said.
