Admissions to Chandigarh engineering colleges to begin on June 5
UIET, CCET among five institutes under joint admission committee, architecture seats to be filled as well, PEC to go for central allotment.
The Joint Admission Schedule 2018 was announced on Tuesday for admission to BE/B Arch courses at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Panjab University, UIET (Hoshiarpur), Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology and Chandigarh College of Architecture.

This time, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) will go for admissions through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
The registration process for admissions under joint admission committee (JAC) will begin on June 5 and list of candidates shortlisted in the first round of counselling will be displayed on July 7. The first round of seat allotment will be done on July 12.

Faculty-in-charge (research and development cell), UIET, Professor JK Goswamy said, “The reservation in the category of persons with disability (PWD) has been increased from 2 to 5% this time. No sports trial will be held for candidates applying in the sports category and grades and certificates will be taken into account.” Reporting for sports gradation for sports category candidates will be done on July 3-4.
There are more than 1,300 seats available in BE and B Arch courses in these five institutions. Candidates will have to check the updated counselling schedule on www.chdenggadmissions.nic.in or www.uiet.puchd.ac.in. No separate interview/counselling letter will be issued and no waiting list will be prepared.
Document verification for candidates under the reserved categories (other than SC/ST) will be done on July 4-6. For PwD, other backward caste (OBC), economically weaker sections (EWS), document verification will be done on July 4. For cancer/AIDS/thalassemia patients, defence, rural area students/border area students, freedom fighter categories, document verification will be done on July 5.
For single girl child category benefit will be given to one of the only two girl children. The document verification for those applying under girl child category, Kashmiri migrants/displaced persons, Kargil martyrs, and terrorist/riot victims will be done on July 6.
All certificates/affidavits claiming reservation under various categories must have been issued not later than July 6, 2018.
