Plan charted to deal with bird flu

THOUGH no case of avian influenza (bird flu) has been reported in the State, the Health Department has geared up to fight any emergency situation arising out of the bird flu. A meeting of the core group was held under the chairmanship of Agriculture Production Commissioner Naveen Chandra Bajpai here on Friday.The members of the group, including the officers of Health Department, Forest and Animal Husbandry Department, decided to divide the state into five zones and appoint a nodal officer in each zone.

CHC: COBRA HAUNTED CENTRE

GUESS WHO all wecomed a Health Department team which went inspecting the Basantpur Community Health Centre (CHC) located in Siddharthnagar district. No, they were not the properly dress staff members manning the CHC. There was hardly any soul around. Instead, the team was greeted by some full-grown cobras roaming in the deserted OPD and operation theatre. So is the condition of our CHCs.

Bitter pill: 1 out 4 drugs is spurious

RECOVERY OF huge stock of fake drugs at Aligarh is just the tip of the iceberg. The industry in Uttar Pradesh is churning out fake drugs worth around Rs 400 crore per annum when the Central Government proposes to award death penalty to those charged with manufacturing and trading spurious drugs. One out of four tablets sold in the market is spurious, the report states the report submitted by the Public Analyst Laboratory (PAL).

HE KNEW all the tricks applied by corrupt officers to embezzle government fund. But before he could blow the whistle the tricksters murdered him. Though a multi-crore scam has been unearthed at Rae Bareli but the Health Department is yet to initiate action against the corrupt officers. A senior assistant in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office at Rae Bareli, SK Lal was member of a gang involved in siphoning off government fund. Later he had a tiff with other members and decided to expose them. But Lal was murdered.
