UMA BHARTI is back in Ayodhya from where it all began for her.
The firebrand sanyasin from Tikamgarh (MP) began her political journey from Ayodhya riding on the Ram Janmbhoomi movement wave. Dumped by the BJP, she again plans to start her pilgrimage to power on Ram temple issue only.

Addressing a public meeting at Faizabad, a few yards from Ayodhya border, she revealed her political strategy. “The BJP betrayed the Ram Janmbhoomi movement and failed to meet the promises it made to the people before coming to power. People were cheated on both Ram and Roti issue. But I assure you that people will get bread as well as a magnificent temple at Ayodhya,” she said.
Not only Advani but Atal Behari Vajpayee was also committed to Ram temple construction, Uma said adding six months before the general election, Vajpayee had made up his mind to transfer the disputed land to Ram Janmbhoomi Nayas.
“Arun Jaitley and I were deputed to get the land transferred. Vajpayee was willing to sacrifice his government in the name of Ram. Again a group of leaders prevailed upon him and forced Vajpayee to go for election on ‘India shining’ and ‘feel good’ issue”, she said.
Uma looked in no mood to leave the party even after her expulsion. “The aim of my yatra is not to weaken the BJP”, she said adding, “he BJP is an ideology and I will live and die with saffron ideology. But I have taken a pledge to free the party from the clutches of people with vested interest”, she said.
Terming such leaders as crow and vultures, Uma said, “I will ensure that they are pushed out of the BJP. This was duty of Vajpayee and Advani but they have failed in their duty. BJP belongs to thousand of workers who have worked hard to make it a massive organisation. Now I will pick up the cudgel against these power brokers.”
Talking to the Hindustan Times, she said not the politicians but the people of the country will decide in which direction the country would move. “The aim of my yatra is to study the mood of the people and I will do what the people will ask me to do. If I die fulfilling their aspiration, I will get heaven and if I survive, I will get power to rule the country”, she said.
After covering around 800 km in 47 days, her Ram-Roti Yatra entered Faizabad and passed through the narrow lanes. A large number of people surged to welcome her. She made it a point to explain the reason why she was again there.
Recounting her political journey up to her coronation as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and Tiranga Yatra, Uma said it was due to her efforts the BJP was able to dislodge the Congress from Madhya Pradesh.
For one year she travelled in various corners of the state, won the confidence of the people, assured them that her party will give good governance. She resigned from the CM’s post after a Karnataka court issued a warrant. “I urged the party leaders to continue their fight against corruption and ensure that only such a person was appointed as CM who could fulfill the aspirations of the people. But instead of getting the CM elected by the MLAs, the Parliamentary Board decided the name. I told Vajpayee, Advani and Jaswant Singh that I would never allow Madhya Pradesh to be thrown before the wolves. But all the three maintained silence, even after accepting that the decision to elect the CM by the Parliamentary Board was wrong. I was left with no option but to launch a yatra to continue the fight against injustice,” she said.
Reacting to the statement of BJP national president Rajnath Singh, Uma said, “Rajnath had said that if I apply for the membership of the party he would consider it sympathetically. If Rajnath really thinks about the welfare of the party he should rather expel Advani on the Jinnah issue.
