Upset over denial of party ticket from Budhlada assembly seat, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Chetan Singh Samao skipped the flag-off ceremony of a pilgrim train to Huzoor Sahib here on Friday. Samao, a Dalit leader, had also remained absent from the inauguration of a solar power plant in his constituency earlier this week, which was presided over by renewable energy minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

Youth killed in Mansa village, kin protest, want all accused arrested

The family of a 25-year-old man, who was murdered for opposing illicit relationship of a woman of his village, held a protest at Heerewala village here on Monday demanding the arrest of the accused. According to the police, Attardeep Singh was killed on Diwali night when he resisted the entry of around 5-6 people to his village, who used to visit a woman in his village. “The victim resisted the entry of the accused, identified as Jeet Singh, Amreek Singh, Mumpy Singh, Semi Singh, Gurjant Singh and his two sons Govind Singh and Sandeep Singh, residents of neighbouring Khara village.

According to eye witnesses, Gurwake Singh was stopped from parking his vehicle in an area arranged for Harsimrat’s car.
