Probe report on Kozhikode air crash lists non-adherence to SOP by pilot as probable cause

Nineteen passengers were fatally injured and seventy five passengers suffered serious injuries in the accident while ninety passengers suffered minor or no injuries. Both pilots suffered fatal injuries while one cabin crew was seriously injured and three cabin crew received minor injuries.

The AAIB in August last year appointed a team of five investigators to lead the probe and submit a report within five months.

Railways floats tender to build ‘Rail Arcades’ at major stations

The state-run Indian Railways Station Development Corporation Ltd issued tenders last month to develop the small city centre that will let residents of the two cities and travellers “to engage, use the facilities and spend quality time”.

Railways float tender for 58 new Vande Bharat trains, aims to deliver 102 trains by 2024

These trains will be manufactured in Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareilly and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The closing date for the tender is on October 20, 2021.

Govt notifies liberalised drone rules to replace unmanned aircraft norms

According to the new rules, special drone corridors will be developed for cargo deliveries. Several approvals have also been abolished. They include unique authorisation number, unique prototype identification number, certificate of manufacturing and airworthiness, etc

Upgraded Vande Bharat rakes likely to be ready by June 2022

Some of the new amenities/safety features planned to be added include Four emergency windows for easy evacuation of passengers in case of an emergency; disaster lights in all coaches, to be used in the event of failure of all other lights in a disaster situation; more emergency push buttons (four per coach).

No cyber breach in NIC email system, Parliament told

NIC, which runs the official email service for the government, at the time clarified that the compromised emails were blocked immediately and no breach or loss of data was reported.

Experts said the multi-factor authentication in a system such as NIC’s may not make it fool-proof and that the reply does not take into acknowledge the magnitude of cybersecurity challenges.

Some Indians also returned by amnesty flights, said the report compiled by the external affairs ministry giving details about the Vande Bharat Mission, India’s largest repatriation exercise launched on 7 May last year to bring back citizens stranded abroad due to the pandemic.
