Hindustan Times, on May 7 reported that the list of trees that will be removed for the project will include at least 20 Jamun trees that are nearly 100 years old that were planted as part of the original plan of Lutyens’ Delhi in the 1920s.

Government allows states to directly import Covid-19 aid

According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), states can directly put in requests to missions, which will assist in providing appropriate information on suppliers and vendors in foreign countries for the purpose of placing orders for procurement directly.

Centre granted customs, IGST exemption on donations from abroad

For donations related to private individuals, companies and NGO’s the SOP said the missions will need to inform the Niti Aayog and the external affairs and health ministries.

Railways adds more special trains as Covid-19 curbs return

Over the past week, the railways planned 69 additional “summer special trains” to cater to the rush being reported across stations. By April 30, the national transporter has planned 133 additional trains with 88 “summer special”’ and 45 “festival special” trains.

Fliers without masks, not heeding Covid-19 protocols could be deboarded: Centre

Govt considers privatisation of 90 railway stations
