Covid vaccine: Mumbai firm gets approval to make Covaxin; 2 crore jabs/month aim

- Mumbai-based Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceuticals announced that its proposal to manufacture the Covaxin vaccine has been approved. The company, wholly owned by the Maharashtra government, plans to produce around 2 crore vaccines every month. Haffkine's MD Sandeep Rathod said that there is a 8-month target to complete the project. Covaxin is India's first indigenous vaccine against Covid-19. It was developed by Bharat Biotech.
