Barricades on Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro route partially removed

Barricades erected for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro line in Pune are being removed in stretches where work is nearing completion, providing relief for commuters from constant traffic snarls. The removal of the barriers will provide "additional lanes for traffic circulation," according to Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited. Pier erection, girder installation and viaduct work have been completed on various portions of the route. The Hinjewadi Metro construction is now underway in three sections: Man to Balewadi, Balewadi to Vidyapeeth Chowk, and Pune University Circle to Shivajinagar Civil Court.

Apart from this, the breadth of the barricades at NICMAR and the Cosmos Bank junction on Ganeshkhind Road has been lowered by a few metres. (KALPESH NUKTE/ HT PHOTO)
