Barricades erected for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro line in Pune are being removed in stretches where work is nearing completion, providing relief for commuters from constant traffic snarls. The removal of the barriers will provide "additional lanes for traffic circulation," according to Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited. Pier erection, girder installation and viaduct work have been completed on various portions of the route. The Hinjewadi Metro construction is now underway in three sections: Man to Balewadi, Balewadi to Vidyapeeth Chowk, and Pune University Circle to Shivajinagar Civil Court.

Citizens travelling to the Hinjewadi IT Park, Baner, Balewadi area from Senapati Bapat (SB) Road and University Road are likely to have a breather from regular traffic congestion as the barricades erected for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro line will be removed in stretches where work is nearing completion.
“As the work on some stretches nears completion, we have begun the removal of barricades that were erected on the road for metro work,” said Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited in a statement.
“It will benefit automobile traffic by providing additional lanes for traffic circulation.”
Pier erection, girder installation and viaduct work were completed on various portions of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro route. Metro developers and traffic planning authorities have begun to gradually remove the barricades to provide relief for commuters from constant traffic snarls in the area.
Hinjewadi Metro construction is now underway in three sections: Man to Balewadi (Section One), Balewadi to Vidyapeeth Chowk (Section Two), and Pune University Circle to Shivajinagar Civil Court (Section Three).
Sections one and two of the metro have been significantly completed as a result of this. Barricades are being removed from areas where piers have been erected and girders have been installed. Barricades have been removed from Balewadi Stadium to Ram Nadi and from Baner Phata to Abhimanashree Housing Society.
“Barricades were installed on both sides of the road for the initial metro work, narrowing the roads,” Metro authorities stated, on condition of anonymity.
“Commuters taking this route often experienced traffic congestion, but these barricades are necessary to prevent the metro’s major construction from interfering with road traffic and to safeguard the safety of employees and passengers.”
“Along with this, where the work is in progress, it is being seen how the width of the barricades can be reduced to make the road more open for traffic,” the press statement added.
Apart from this, the breadth of the barricades at NICMAR and the Cosmos Bank junction on Ganeshkhind Road has been lowered by a few metres.
These barricades will also be removed as soon as the construction of piers and girders here is completed and the traffic will be greatly eased soon.”
