2 1997-batch IPS officers set to get higher pay than their seniors

Officials, however, said that since the pay of 1997-batch IPS officers has been refixed in a higher-level of pay matrix, this will pave the way for refixation of pay of four 1996-batch IPS officers, Mamta Singh, M Ravi Kiran, KK Rao and Hanif Qureshi (presently on central deputation). The home department is also likely to issue a clarificatory order in this regard on April 26.

Even as 1996-batch IPS officers in the rank of additional director general of police (ADGP) are yet to get a higher pay grade, the Haryana government has ordered refixation of the pay of two 1997 batch IPS officers, Amitabh Dhillon and Sanjay Kumar following their promotion in the rank of additional director general of police (ADGP). SC pulls up Army for denying promotion to women PC officers

The Indian Supreme Court has criticized the Indian Army for denying promotions to women permanent commission officers and ordered a fresh review of their cases within two weeks. The Court found that the cut-off for considering their confidential reports was arbitrary and aimed at equating women officers to their male counterparts. The Army and the Union government justified their action based on policy frameworks and a previous court judgment, but the Court deemed the process to be unfair and in violation of constitutional principles. The review will consider all confidential reports, except the two most recent ones.
