Sacrilege cases: All 8 accused appear in court, Ram Rahim via videoconferencing

Three interlinked FIRs were registered in 2015. First FIR was registered on June 2, 2015 which is regarding theft of ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village on June 1, 2015. The second FIR was registered on September 25, 2015, after derogatory posters were put up at Bargari and third FIR was registered on October 12, 2015 as torn pages of a ‘bir’ were found scattered near Bargari gurdwara

During the first hearing of the case, on April 5, 2023, production warrants were issued to Ram Rahim while notices were issued to the rest to appear in the court. (ANI)

10 undertrials booked for clash at Ludhiana Central Jail

Ten inmates of the Ludhiana Central Jail have been identified as Rohit Kumar, Sarabjit Singh, Deepak Chauhan, Pardeep Singh, Shivam, Gurmukh Singh, Amandeep Kumar, Khadak Singh, Jivtesh Sethi, Randeep Singh, and Amarjeet Singh. All are undertrials in different cases.

Five arrested for gambling, 23,000 seized

The Koomkalan police arrested three persons for gambling, identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Bhaini Sahib, Khushwant Singh of Lato Joga village and Charanjeet Singh of Namdev Colony, from Dana Mandi in Katani Kalan and seized ₹20, 570 from their possession.

Weightlifter Pardeep Singh settles for silver after Samoan showdown at Commonwealth Games

Pardeep Singh’s silver in the 105 kg weightlifting event of the 2018 Commonwealth Games was bitter sweet as he came agonisingly close to a gold but eventually settled for second spot after a close contest with Samoa’s Sanele Mao in Gold Coast.

Pardeep Singh lifted lifted 352 kg (152 kg snatch + 200 kg clean and jerk) to claim the second spot in the 105 kg men’s weightlifting event after an exciting showdown with Samoa’s Sanele Mao at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on Monday.(Twitter)
