Rajya Sabha bypoll schedule notified

The nomination papers can be filed till December 10 between 11am and 3 pm, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 13. If the election is held, voting will take place on December 20 at the Haryana Vidhan Sabha secretariat from 9 am to 4 pm, the spokesperson said.

Panchayat polls: Ensure no paper is rejected for want of NOC: SAD

In a communiqué sent to the state election commission, Akali leader Daljit Singh Cheema sought directions to the returning officers that even if they want to cancel any nomination paper due to non-availability of NOC and non-payment of tax, they should send the same to the commission for scrutiny.

Officials of the rural development and panchayats department are deliberately delaying the decision on the nominations so that they could be rejected at the last moment, alleges SAD leader Cheema.

Nominations of 355 candidates found valid in Punjab

According to Punjab chief electoral officer Sibin C, 29 nomination papers have been approved in Gurdaspur, 33 in Amritsar, 30 in Khadoor Sahib, 20 in Jalandhar, 19 in Hoshiarpur, 29 in Anandpur Sahib, 44 in Ludhiana, 15 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 30 in Faridkot, 33 in Ferozepur, 20 in Bathinda, 26 in Sangrur and 27 in Patiala.

A total of 466 candidates filed 598 nomination papers for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state from May 7 to May 14. In all, 243 nomination papers have been found invalid.
