However, in all probability, the ruling BJP is expected to retain the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by Krishan Lal Panwar after being elected as an MLA. Panwar is now a development and panchayats minister in the chief minister Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government.

Nutritious food must reach anganwadi centres: Minister
Chandigarh : Haryana’s women and child development minister Shruti Choudhry on Tuesday said that nutritious food must reach anganwadi centres on time and directed that officers of this department should go to the field and listen to the problems of people. While chairing a review meeting of the women and child development department, the minister also asked the officers to prepare a duty chart which should have complete information about the work being assigned to every officer. She said that strict action must be taken against those not going in the field despite being assigned the duty. The minister also discussed with the officials about making mahila chaupal and building new anganwadi centers, as promised in the party’s manifesto.
Deepotsav on Dec 11 across ‘48 kos’ pilgrimage places
Chandigarh : A “Deepotsav” will be organised on December 11 at all the pilgrimage places known as “48 kos” during the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav being held in Kurukshetra. The representatives of the gram panchayats will participate in ‘Deepotsav’ and invitations are being sent to representatives of block samitis, district councils and other bodies to take part in these events, an official spokesperson said. The “Deepotsav” coinciding with Gita Mahotsav will be celebrated at “48 kos pilgrimages” associated with the Mahabharata. A cleanliness drive will be conducted at the pilgrimages cites of 48 kos along with Gita recitation. An official spokesperson said that the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra is a platform for craftsmen to showcase handicrafts and folk arts of their region. “The artistry of craftsmen has become a major highlight of the Gita Mahotsav, drawing increasing numbers of visitors,” the spokesperson said.
