Declare permissible noise standards in mixed land use areas: NGT to Punjab govt

The NGT bench in its order directed the Punjab government and the authorities concerned to “inspect all mixed land use areas on various parameters of the environment to enquire a total number of residences, commercial establishments and industries and declare ambient noise standards for the mixed land use areas”

NGT approves penalties of up to Rs 1 lakh for causing noise pollution

In an order dated August 11, NGT chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel also ordered the constitution of a monitoring committee headed by retired high court judge SP Garg to ensure compliance of noise pollution rules in the national Capital.

According to the CPCB report, a fine of Rs 10,000 would be levied for misuse of loudspeakers and public address system, besides seizure of equipment.

Ganeshotsav: Mumbai records highest noise level in 4 years

Awaaz Foundation that recorded noise levels on Thursday night said the highest noise level, 121.3 decibels (dB) - as loud as a jet plane during takeoff (120 dB), was recorded near Royal Opera House junction on Charni Road just before midnight.

Ganeshotsav in Pune: Rise in festive fervour, dip in noise pollution

The officials recorded the noise levels at the crossroads of Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale and Mandai near Shanipar area as 88 decibels (dB), and 92 decibels (dB) on Laxmi road, at 10 pm.

Mumbai: HC nod to resume Metro work at night in SoBo, but with riders
