Pakistan to open Kartarpur Corridor on Nov 9: Imran Khan

On October 10, Pakistan foreign office spokesman Mohammad Faisal created confusion over the inauguration date by stating that “no date has been fixed so far” while a Pakistani senior official heading the corridor project had announced that Pakistan will allow Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy Kartarpur Sahib from November 9.

Pakistan, on Thursday, said no date has been fixed so far for the inauguration of the much-awaited Kartarpur corridor, even as it assured that it will be open ‘on time’ on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak next month.

Also, to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi so far 1424 prisoners have been released by states and Union Territories in 2 phases (2nd Oct 2018 & 6th April 2019). Third phase of release is due on 2nd Oct 2019.

Man burnt to death in Amritsar; wife, in-laws booked

43-year-old Rakesh Kumar aka Rocky of Ludhiana was allegedly burnt to death by his wife and three in-laws at Rani Ka Bagh locality in Amritsar, police said on Wednesday. The accused, including his wife Pooja, his wife’s brother Manoj, his son Raghav and wife Savita, have been booked on the complaint of the deceased’s father Kherati Lal.

A little-known story of Nepal’s Sikh connection

The story of Sikh transporters is legendary in Nepal. In the early 1950s, hailing from the Jammu region, many of them personally navigated the newly laid tracks of the Tribhuvan Highway, and crossed rivers to haul their trucks to Kathmandu.
