Three-coach Metro to soon serve upcoming Lajpat-Saket corridor

A three-coach train can carry around 900 passengers per trip. DMRC said the projected ridership is expected to be touch 120,000 passengers by 2041

24-year-old dies, friend injured after truck hits their scooter in Ludhiana

Survey for revamp of four Delhi markets completed

The Delhi government has completed ground surveys of four markets for redevelopment and will now hold consultations with stakeholders. The government has earmarked ₹100 crore for the redevelopment of markets, which will be implemented by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Common problems identified in the surveys include poor condition of toilets, footpaths, inadequate parking, hanging electric wires, solid waste management, and waterlogging. The government has also engaged the School of Planning and Architecture to carry out a design competition for the markets, aiming to give each a unique outlook.

The redevelopment will resolve problems such as poor condition of toilets and inadequate parking facilities, say officials. (HT File)

4 sentenced to life in prison without remission in Lajpat Nagar blast case

The court said that the long delay in the trial compromised national interest and paved the way for a less severe punishment

A bench of justices BR Gavai, Vikram Nath and Sanjay Karol sentenced Mirza Nissar Hussain and Mohammad Ali Bhatt, who were acquitted by the Delhi high court in November 2012, to life in prison and ordered them to surrender immediately. The top court also upheld the life sentences awarded to Mohammad Naushad and Javed Ahmed Khan by the Delhi high court. (ANI)

Delhi Metro train times to be extended amid IPL

Delhi’s IPL franchise will host matches on April 4, 11, 20, 29 and May 6, 13 and 20. Except for the May 20 match, all the other fixtures will start at 7:30 pm
