A day after the Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Jamaat- e- Islami was banned, restrictions were imposed in several parts of the old city of Srinagar and south Kashmir’s Anantnag town over an apprehension of protests.

Kashmir protests: Army asks people not to march towards Srinagar HQ on Monday

After the killing of seven civilians protesting the anti-militancy operation in Pulwama on Saturday, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) had called for a three day strike and asked people to march towards Badami Bagh cantonment, where the headquarters of the 15 Corps is located, on Monday.

Kashmir Valley shuts after killing of PhD scholar-turned-militant Manan Wani

The Kashmir Valley was shut down on Friday by a general strike called by separatist organisations to mourn the death of PhD scholar-turned-militant Manan Wani, who was killed by security forces on Thursday in north Kashmir’s Handwara.

Separatists’ strike hits life on polling day in Kashmir

Normal life was affected in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday due to a strike called by separatists against urban local bodies elections in the state. Voting for the second of the four-phased elections was underway in the Valley. It began at 6 am and ended at 4 pm.

Kashmiri separatists call for poll boycott, say process ‘propagated as verdict in India’s favour’

Syed Ali Geelani, Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued the poll boycott appeal under the banner of Joint Resistance Leadership. Separatists have routinely issued poll boycott calls since elections were conducted first in 1996.

Restrictions imposed in Kashmir amid protest call by separatists
