Clear penalties defined in new PU policy on sexual harassment

The internal complaints committee (formerly Panjab University Committee Against Sexual Harassment) has already started working as per the draft policy, which is expected to be cleared by the senate – the varsity’s apex governing body – in toto

For both teaching and non-teaching staff, penalties start from a reprimand and can also include withholding increments, compulsory retirement and dismissal from service. Teaching staff can also be debarred from holding any administrative position in the university. (HT)

BMC’s new draft policy on open spaces does away with ‘caretakers’

Mumbai's new draft policy on gardens, playgrounds, and recreation grounds scraps the controversial caretaker policy and limits adoption of open spaces to 11 months, 3 years, or 5 years. Private parties may also acquire municipal plots by paying 50% of the land value. The policy prioritizes local school associations and ALMs in adopting open spaces. The public has been invited to provide feedback on the draft policy within 30 days.

Delhi: Draft policy pushes for up to 50% EVs in aggregators’ fleet by 2023

According to the draft policy, 10%of newly-onboarded two-wheelers and 5% of new four-wheelers will have to be EVs within three months of notification of the final policy

Government may come out with new toll policy

The ministry of road transport and highways has hired consultancy firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to prepare a draft policy in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to revamp the toll system, which was last revised in 2008.

Although the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was muted in its response, the Tamil Nadu government maintained that the state will persist with a two-language formula – Tamil and English.
