Sayani Gupta says she doesn’t believe in dieting, here’s how she stays fit without exercising

Actor Sayani Gupta, known for her work in Margarita with a Straw, Parched and Jolly LLB 2, says she believes in eating whatever she likes, without any guilt. Here’s how she still manages to give us #fitnessgoals.

Unlike a lot of actors, Sayani Gupta’s Instagram account doesn’t really feature any photos of her sweating it out at the gym or post-workout selfies. And that’s because Sayani hates the gym and when it comes to fitness, she keeps it simple.

Sayani Gupta’s eating mantra is that you should eat what your ancestors ate.

The actor, who was last seen in the web series Kaushiki, reveals how she stays strong.

On exercise

“I have a personal trainer who comes home. I work out three times a week for an hour each and focus on concentrated body weight training and cardio. Honestly, I don’t always work out if I am too busy with shoots. I have gone for weeks without exercise. But my metabolism thankfully is good and it doesn’t show much. But I do jump back into the workout schedule in off days.”

On dieting

“I believe in eating everything and love my rice and sweets. And eating it without guilt and worry… I feel that’s the best way to digest food. I don’t ever do a rigorous dieting normally. Of late, I have replaced rice with quinoa and couscous. But I do eat rice on and off. I love biryani and Bengali food is almost incomplete with the accompaniment of rice.”

“My eating mantra is, you should eat what your ancestors ate. It’s true that the quality of vegetables, fruits and meat is of no comparison from then to now, but in principle the staple is easily digestible if it was part of your evolution lineage.”

On daily meals

“I skip breakfast. I haven’t yet figured out what’s the best breakfast that doesn’t give me acidity. I drink warm water in the mornings with amla juice and triphala juice. My first meal is around 11 or 12 which is like an early lunch. Daal, veggies, sometimes fish and quinoa. I eat dinner around 7 pm which is also the same, unless I am eating out. Then it’s later and whatever I am in the mood for. I would love a sushi meal for dinner generally.”

On crash diets

“I have never tried a crash diet because of the Bollywood industry. But I had done an Ayurvedic treatment two years ago what required me to stay on a crazy diet of one papaya a day for two weeks. No solid food. That was tough. It was to cleanse my body and hormones internally.”
