New Zealand vs Netherlands Commentary

4:23 PM IST Right then, that is it from this one-sided affair where New Zealand get their second win of the tournament while Netherlands succumbed to yet another defeat. However, the action in the World Cup continues on 10th October, Tuesday where we will be treated with a double-header. The first game will see England take on Bangladesh at 10.30 am (5 am GMT) while in the second match, two Asian rivals, Pakistan and Sri Lanka go up against each other. That game will begin at 2 pm IST (8.30 am GMT), but as you know, you can join us early for all the build-up to both games. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
4:21 PM IST Tom Latham, the victorious skipper of New Zealand says that they still would have bowled first but did a very good job with the bat early on and it was backed up by the bowlers too. Adds that any time out in the middle is valuable and they were able to build multiple partnerships and even though they didn't manage it perfectly, they were able to get big runs in the final five overs. Mentions that the guys bowled brilliantly and tried to be proactive with the changes and applaud Mitchell Santner's effort. On Lockie Ferguson, he says that it is a pretty long tournament and it's good to see him get a good outing. Ends by saying that they have had a good start and will look to continue the same down in Chennai in their next game.
4:21 PM IST Scott Edwards, the captain of Netherlands says that they were good with the ball for most parts of the game but just that last few overs gave them the momentum. Tells that they hoped to restrict the Kiwis around the 280-mark but it wasn't to be. Mentions that you can't really chase 320+ scores with 40s and 60s and they needed some partnerships and someone to make a big score. Says there were some positives but they made the same mistakes as their first game and will look to learn from it and give their best in the next game.
4:15 PM IST Mitchell Santner is adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his five-wicket haul and a cameo with the bat. He says that the boys batted well and got them the platform and they were able to contain the opposition well with the ball. Mentions that the nature of the surface suited him and personally he reckons he didn't bowl at his best but managed to pick up wickets. Adds that he has been lucky to be playing in  India consistently over the last few years, watching Ravindra Jadeja as well. Also says that every time you play here you get experience and the wicket was a bit slower and the Dutch spinners too bowled well. Ends by joyfully saying that he enjoys his batting as well.
4:14 PM IST Presentation Time...
4:13 PM IST Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, New Zealand posted a big total on the board courtesy of fine fifties from Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, and Tom Latham. Daryl Mitchell also contributed well but it was Mitchell Santner's quick-fire 36 runs off just 17 balls at the death that gave the momentum to the Kiwis. For Netherlands, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, and Roelof van der Merwe picked up two wickets each while Bas de Leede chipped in with one. While chasing, it was a similar performance from Netherlands as against Pakistan. There were a couple of good knocks but they failed to put in a collective effort which was needed to chase this huge total.
