Generally, Kohli would have just looked to work it on the leg side but went for the flamboyant shot and paid the price. Kohli is off-balance on the pull and the ball goes off the splice of the bat toward mid on where Mohammad Nawaz takes a simple catch. Today, the execution of this shot will not look as ordinary as it was because of the situation of the game but would have been the talking point on some other day, as these shortish deliveries are troubling Kohli. Do you remember his dropped catch against Australia?

Complete miscommunication and had that hit, it would have been yet another Sharma-Kohli mix-up. Rauf misses the yorker and serves a low full toss on leg stump at 147 clicks. Rohit Sharma firmly drives it to mid on and sets off for the single as Shaheen Afridi dives full length to stop the ball inside the ring. It's the striker's call, has to be his, but Kohli is caught looking behind and is ball-watching. Rohit has almost crossed the halfway mark of the pitch and then thinks about returning. He loses his balance slightly as he applies the brakes but then sees Kohli scooting towards the striker's end. Amidst all this, Shaheen recovers from his dive and takes aim at the wickets at the striker's end. He misses and Virat dives to make it safely. The replay though shows that Kohli would have been a goner had Shaheen Afridi hit the stumps. Rohit takes a sigh of relief and flashes a smile.
