Prisoner escapes from medical college hospital in Meerut

Kale Khan alias Taufiq, a resident of Awala in Bareilly, was lodged in Bareilly jail . Due to ill-health, he was referred to Meerut Medical College hospital and admitted to emergency ward on Friday. On Sunday, he was shifted to Ayushman ward. The policemen were sleeping at around 7.30 am on Monday morning when Kale Khan took the opportunity and ran away.

Two electrocuted in Bulandshahr due to live wire fencing

Deceased Krishan Kumar, 23 and Sumit Kumar, 23, had gone to collect fodder for their livestock on Thursday and Krishan Kumar came in contact with a live wire while both were on their way back to the village. Sumit tried to save his friend and also got entangled in the wire.

Drones’ battery life hiccup in hunt for ‘maneater’ leopards

Out of the total seven drones the forest department owns, the two recently bought ones have thermal sensors that allow them to spot any living object even if it’s hiding under the deep covers of a sugarcane field, they added.

Residents of over two dozen villages in Bijnor, India, are living in fear as leopard attacks have resulted in 13 deaths over the past seven months. Farmer organisations are demanding a solution to the problem, with leopards injuring over 60 people during the same period. The fear has led to residents moving in groups for protection, with children also attending school in groups. Activists from the Bharatiya Kisan Union are staging protests demanding the elimination of the leopards or permission to kill them.
