Fertiliser firms tagging other products with DAP, urea, decry Punjab dealers

The wholesale dealers have also sent a letter to the Union ministry of chemicals and fertilisers stating their concerns. Last year in November, the ministry warned companies about selling non-required products with fertilisers to the farmers.

2015 Kotkapura police firing: Punjab govt gives nod to prosecute Badals, 6 others

Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal are among eight accused who have been given permission to be prosecuted in the 2015 Kotkapura police firing case. The Punjab home department gave its nod to prosecute the accused under Section 197 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The FIR was registered on the recommendation of the Justice Ranjit Singh commission report. Two Sikh protesters were killed in the firing at Behbal Kalan during a protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced the opening of 150 more public mining sites in the state, which will sell sand at a cheaper rate of ?5.50 per cubic feet. The state government has eradicated the sand mafia, which used to ensure that people only got cheap sand. These mines will not only provide cheap sand but will also provide employment to several youths. Only manual excavation of sand will be permitted, and the sand will only be sold for non-commercial construction projects.
