Faridkot court rejects bail pleas of Saini, Umranangal

A Faridkot court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of former director general of police Sumedh Singh Saini, suspended inspector general of police Paramraj Singh Umranangal and former senior superintendent of police Charanjit Singh Sharma in connection with the 2015 Kotkapura firing incident.

7 years after Kotkapura firing: SIT seeks identification of suspected person from pre-incident video

More than seven years after the post-sacrilege police firing incident at Kotkapura, the special investigation team led- by ADGP LK Yadav has released a video of the protest site minutes before the incident seeking help from people to identify a suspected person.

The 11-second video, dated October 14, 2015, is a CCTV footage of few minutes before the incident. SIT has sought the help from people to identify a man in a white shirt and sky-blue trousers holding a baseball bat in his hand. (Video grab)

Bargari sacrilege cases: Transferring cases only for safety of petitioners, says SC

The Supreme Court in its detailed order, made available on Saturday, has said that the transfer of the trial against Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim and seven dera followers in three interlinked cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari in 2015 from court in Faridkot to Chandigarh was solely for the safety of the petitioners.
