Megablock of water supply in Mumbai between Nov 29 and 30

Nearly 7.5 lakh people residing in K West will not receive water supply for 24 hours between November 29 and November 30. K West, which comprises areas like Oshiwara, Lokhandwala, Andheri West, Vile Parle West and Juhu, has a population of 748,688 and is spread over 23.28 kilometres.

At least 10 areas of K East, a ward that encompasses Jogeshwari East, MIDC, Seepz, Andheri East and other suburbs, will also be affected. Five areas of the ward, including Gundavli Azad Nagar and Nehru Road, will not receive water supply on November 29 while two areas—Sher-e-Punjab, Anand Nagar, and Samarth Nagar—will not get water on November 30. BMC receives 5 bids for construction on railway portion of Gokhale Bridge

These bids will now be taken up for verification and the ones that fulfil the criteria will be shortlisted. BMC had put a deadline of May 2023 for the opening of the north side lane of the bridge, which has been shut since 2018 after its initial collapse

Gokhale Bridge was shut on November 7 when, after the routine six-month audit conducted by the BMC, it was found to be in a dilapidated state that warranted closure.

Mumbai records worse air quality than Delhi on Tuesday

Three locations out of 10 were in very poor (AQI between 301 to 400) category, five were reported to be in poor category (AQI 201 to 300) whereas only two locations were in moderate (AQI 101 to 200) category.

Heavy dust pollution chokes Mulund residents

The dust pollution is so severe, residents said in unison, that in just half a day a car parked on the road gets covered with dust. The frequent movement of dumpers in the area has led to dust spreading across the residential buildings.
