Gokhale Bridge: Citizens band via banners, WhatsApp on timeline

Mumbai: The citizens of Andheri and the nearby areas have joined hands to raise their voices and demand accountability for the completion of the Gokhale Bridge on time

The Gokhale Bridge – a part of which collapsed in 2018, killing two – is a key connector between Andheri East and West, and is one of the busiest routes in the western suburb. Following the collapse, the bridge was only kept partially open while Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) worked on building it again in phases. Builder shuts public road adjoining construction site, FIR filed

Former BJP corporator from the area Hetal Gala, who went on-ground after receiving multiple calls and messages from locals, took to Twitter to share a video on how a local builder had shut down an important road for his own private construction.

When contacted, Mangesh Shinde, DCP Traffic (West) said that the work had been stopped and legal action was being taken by the Santacruz traffic division and Santacruz police station. Project Mumbai, Amar Chitra Katha launches comic book to encourage volunteerism in kids

The five stories in the comic book encourage or touch upon five different topics. The ‘Smiling School’ story talks about awareness of mental health and a helpline launched by Project Mumbai, where kids facing mental health issues can reach out to them. The ‘Har Ghar Hai Donor’ topic brings awareness amongst kids on organ donation. The ‘Jallosh’ chapter talks about a program by Project Mumbai to clean up and maintain beaches and water bodies in the city. The ‘Recyclothon’ chapter mentions how volunteers can come together to collect plastic waste and recycle it to make benches. The comic book also talks about children inspiring adults on organ donation and covid warriors.

Level 1 fire breaks out in Malad residential complex, 1 injured

The on-duty security guard was the first one to respond. The guard, who did not wish to be named, said, “I heard people screaming, saw the fire, ran and cut down the building’s power supply and gas connection supply.”

Following the fire, the electric supply to the building was cut-off. Refund 15% school fees for 2021-22: Fee Regulatory Committee to Indian Education Society

A complaint was filed by parents from Orion School, Dadar, run by the IES. The fees for 2021-22 in that school were between ₹84,722 and ₹1,07,570.
