'Join like-minded...': How AAP is wooing 'sulking' Hardik ahead of Gujarat polls

- The Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat has issued an open invitation to seemingly disgruntled Congress leader Hardik Patel to swap outfits ahead of the December assembly election. Amid speculations, Hardik Patel denied that he was on the verge of leaving the party after a bitter, public outburst in which he said he felt like a "groom forced into nasbandi (vasectomy)". Hardik Patel, who led an agitation of the powerful "Patidar" community for quota in Gujarat in 2015, joined the Congress just before the 2019 national election. His popularity was seen to have waned since his political plunge, more so as he had earlier shunned politics. Although the party made gains in the 2017 Gujarat election, the Patidar community did not support the party in the 2019 election or local body polls.
