According to the police, the deceased, Sushant Lokhande, resident of Tanaji Nagar, Ulhasnagar Camp No 4, on October 14, had gone to the Ulhas River near Badlapur with his four friends to swim. After some time, Lokhande started losing his breath and was having trouble swimming and started drowning

Two relatives drown in Ulhas River; rescue operations on

The victims, Sarfraz Ansari, 28, a driver, and Salman Ansari, 29, a mechanic, were relatives and stayed together near Hindustan Bakery in Shantinagar. According to the police, when one of them started drowning, the other went to save him but both drowned

8 passenger jetties to connect Bhayandar and Dombivali

Maharashtra Maritime Board has floated tenders for the construction of eight passenger jetties across Mumbai. The project will cost $13m and will be shared by the Centre and the state governments. The project is part of the Centre?s Sagarmala initiative, under the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The ferry services on this route may commence at the end of 2025, according to a senior MMB official.

Around 40,000 hit by downpour in Badlapur, Mumbai
